Here we are, the River pattern finished, the right and left sides of the triangle bound off. I really like how this looks. And it has a nice drape even though it is light weight. My partner really wants to give this to our friend Dorothy by the end of the weekend. When I was working on the "violets", I was hearing, "Is it a violet, yet?" When I was working on the "river", I was hearing, "Is it a river, yet?" Now I am moving on to the "Honeybee & Faggoting", I wonder what I'll be hearing until it is done? LOL
Below is a photo of some stitches picked up along the top of the shawl. I think it looks OK. What do you think?
Here are my newest prized possessions. The spindle on the left is a Kundert, 1.1 oz. The one on the right is "Hearts" from Woolly Designs, 1.3 oz. The fiber on the left is Colonial Multi Dark Green. The one on the right is Colonial Multi Mahogany. I believe they are both from Ashland Bay. But they've been repackaged, so I am not sure. I really want to get some Colonial Northern Lights.
Anyway, I am ready to spin! Guild meeting is on Saturday and I signed up for the spinning class at A Mano. Crossing my fingers!

I think "Violets" looks great!
What will your next lace project be?
'Violets' is a great achievement, you did very well Jason. And now to spinning.... ;-)
Thanks Ted! I got a lot of help from you! You made it easier for me. :-) Once the Honeybee & Faggoting is done, I'll move on to Lotus Blossom Shawl. This one is for mom, and she wants red too.
Thanks Kerry! I hope after this weekend I will have some yarn, and my spindles will still be in one piece. :-)
The river is lovely ... very impressive. The spindles and fibre look like fun ... I'm anxious to see how it comes out :-)
You are doing a wonderful job on your shawl! It's just beautiful. Good luck on the spinning!
What great spindles! Love the shawl, good luck on your deadline :)
Oh, yeah. The Lotus shawl is CHARTED, Jason. :)
You do beautiful work, Jason. Your yo's are so even, your gauge perfect for that yarn and pattern, the transition between the violets and river is perfect. Wowza!!!
Can't wait to see your singles! Be patient with yourself at the spinning class. Some people (my mom, daughter and best friend) take to it immediately and some of us (me!) watch the lessons, then go home and practice until it clicks.
Remember that part about tugging on the sliver? Did I send you that bit? Hold the sliver so your hands are just a little less than the staple length apart and tug-tug-tug to open the sliver. If you're going to spin from the fold, then you tug just the end to pull off about 4-6" of sliver and bend that around your index finger, then spin with your drafting triangle at the point of the fold. --Syl
Hey Jason~~ WOW!!! Look at the Violets...GREAT JOB JASON!!!!
You have much so much patient then mine!!! I guess lace knitting is not my type...As you know...It has been hot for a months...I stop knitting sweater.... So hot!!!
I hope you have a fun on spinning class!!! Also i made a spindle my self..by hand...See the pic in my web!!!! Jason can you add me on your blogs I read? Thanks
Thanks Dave! I can't wait to see your butterfly completed. No pressure! :-) I really hope that I will have something to show on spinning after the weekend.
Thanks Jane! I will have to read charts, huh? LOL Did you knit Lotus Blossom?
Thanks Aija! I think I will be OK. Blocking shouldn't take too long on these things, right? :-)
Thanks Sylvia! You sent me that info and more. :-) I've read it twice so far. It will take having the actual experience to make sense all of it. I have been pretty good at not making any attempt until the guild meeting and the class. I want to have a right start. LOL
Thanks Charles! Spinning will be fun.
Jason,
No, I have not knit the Lotus Blossom but the same designer that made that shawl, Dorothy Siemens made the one that I am knitting, the Peacock Shawl. The essential design elements are the same even if the motifs change. And let me tell you, it's all about the charts for this gal! You must Really Love Mom!
Jason,
Do you know if the tightening hole in the bottom of the new Knit Picks needles goes all the way through? If so, you might attach a lifeline there and it would not slip or come undone which is what happens if you just try to tie it to the base of the circular needles and knit!
Hey at least your partner cares enough to actually know the names of what you are working on. Around here we just refer to things in generic terms like "working on a sock" or "yarn for the shawl".
The color on the fiber for your spinning is just to die for. Best of luck in your class.
heirloom quality, that's what i'd call that shawl. it's stunning, what a fantastic job you've done.
Wow! What a beautiful shawl. It takes my breath away. The color is a perfect match for the pattern too.
It is so lovely! But what the hell is faggoting?
Charles, just left you a comment to your post. :-)
Jane, almost time to start Lotus Blossom. But I need a break first. LOL KnitPicks' needle set sounds ideal. I just wish that they would make smaller size needles too.
Diane, I made him pose with the shawl. LOL No face shot though. I will get the post up tomorrow. :-)
Spinning class was great! I understood a lot. Now I just have to get my hands to understand it. :-)
April, thank you. :: blush :: You are too kind. :-) I have given it to my friend. I hope she will enjoy it.
Abigail, thank you. :: blush :: It really is a good beginner lace project. Good pattern design by Hazel Carter. :-)
Annika! Thanks! Hard to explain "faggoting". LOL Tallguy explained it well in a comment to one of my previous posts. I will get a photo up tomorrow so you can see what it looks like. :-)
Your shawl is looking lovely--what a great color, too! Looking forward to seeing the completed project. :)
Thanks Alice! It really can't compare to any of the lovely projects you hve knitted. :-)
