9 rows done, 9 more rows to go. Well, that sounds misleadingly simple as there's one more violet added to each proceeding row. So, that's 45 violets done and 126 more to go. Hmm... maybe I didn't need to know that. LOL
Ted's modification is working really well. The right and left sides now look more balanced. I am also using a lifeline religiously. I move the line up after completion of each row of violets. It's already saved me a few times.
It took a bit of getting-used-to again when I picked "Violets" back up. It's just a big switch from working with worsted weight to lace weight. I can't wait to get to the Running River pattern which I've never sampled. Also, I will have to deal with joining yarn ends when the first ball of yarn runs out. That will be a first too. Lots to learn.

'Violets' is looking good, and I love the colour you've chosen.
Over the years, I've learned one thing (I realize this makes me sound like I'm 75 years old): On a larger project, DON'T DO THE MATH! It usually gets me discouraged at my progress, or lack of.
Great!! Kenny!!!!
How long is this violet?/I just checking how your brain is working or not?? hehe
DID you for get any stitch?
I mean Jason!!! What kind of yarn your using...Nice color!!!!
Your work is beautiful, very even, and the gauge looks just right. The color really shows the lace, too.
What I like the very most, though, is your positive attitude. The shawl is going to be a bundle of good wishes and will feel like a blessing across one's shoulders. --Syl
Keep it up! You're making me want to do more lace and I haven't even finished my first shawl yet!
Yes, lifeline good. Tinking back lace bad.
It's looking good! Keep it going ... you'll love it, I'm sure.
A belated comment to say you a bajillion times for your contributions to Dulaan! I especially love the "bobbly" red hat. Some Mongolian child will LOVE it!

I thank you all, friends! :-)
Kerry, it was easy picking out the color. This will be for my friend Dorothy and she likes red. This is the only color that's reddish for this yarn. Problem solved. LOL
Knit Picking, I did the math on the Bobble Hat too, didn't I? LOL Although the bobbles did really hurt and it didn't help when I realzed how many I had to do. :-)
Charles, other than wanting to finish soon so I can gift it to my friend, it was actually quite calming. I started knitting it on Saturday when I was too tired to do anything else. It was quite meditative. The finished size should be around 41" x 51". I used KnitPicks' Shadow.
Sylvia, thanks for all the kind words. I will be sure to take a picture of the shawl on my friend whent it's finished. :-)
Sachi, you are doing the Candleflame Shawl? That's on my to-do list! I even bought the yarn for it. :-) How do you like it?
Agnes, thanks! I quite enjoy knitting lace. Lifeline takes most of the fear out. LOL Hey, I'm anxiously waiting to see your Amazing Lace challenges. :-)
Thanks for stopping by and saying hello, Ryan! I'm glad that I can do something for the project. :-)
I think it's looking great!
So Ted, do I get a passing grade? Not expecting an A, of course. :-)
Thanks Kenny! Oh yeah, it is lots of fun! :-)
Absolutely lovely! I really like your work - so even and perfect.
Thanks for the link to the lifeline tutorial, too. I've not needed that sort of thing yet, but it really reduces my anxiety about tryihng such things as lace.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Cat! Nice to see you here! Wish I could be at the Merc knitting with you all. :-)
I've already put my lace aside and picked up the clapotis last night...but yours looks gorgeous!
Your "Violets" are looking good.
Stick with the "9 more rows to go". It hurts less!
Fantastic job, Jason! Rock on!
Oh no Elemmaciltur! I hope you will pick it back up in the future. I've heard about "Clapotis" so many times. I can't wait to see yours knitted up!
Thanks Laurie! Good thing that it's not very boring doing violets or the counting down would be a torture. :-)
Thanks Lee Ann! Thanks for stopping by! :-)
Violets looks great. I would go with the 9 rows of violets to go as well. It's much nicer to count repeat rows than actual rows.
Thanks Angela! :-) I finished row 14 last night. 4 more to go! :-)
